Where: Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield
When: All weekend
Cost: FREE (charge for parking)
If you’ve not been to YSP yet then PLEASE, for the love of God, put this right at the top of your ‘To Do’ list. There are five indoor galleries, plus the 500 acres of parkland are used as an outdoor one with sculptures to admire at every turn. The park has a seasonal rotation of exhibits, so catch the current ones before they vanish. It’s a magical place.

What: British Art Show 8
Where: Southampton City Art Gallery and John Hansard Art Gallery, Southampton
When: All weekend (ends 15 January)
Cost: FREE
This exhibition is presented every five years in four cities across the UK. Some 42 up-and-coming contemporary artists were selected to exhibit their work which includes film, sculpture and installation, three of my favourite things. Twenty-six of the artists have gone all teacher’s pet and produced brand new pieces of work especially for this exhibition.
