The Weekend’s Top 5

OK, you could spend the weekend Christmas shopping. Or you could check some of this shit out.

fun run santas
Perth Santa Run
Where: Horsecross Plaza, Perth
When: Saturday, midday-2pm
Cost: FREE
Here’s a thing. Watch a load of Santas do a fun run OR do a fun run dressed as a Santa. YOUR CALL. It says there’s mince pies but doesn’t specify if they’re for spectators or if you have to get your run on, but you could always take your own I suppose. They sell them in shops; you don’t have to be a Santa to get them.

The London Pantomime Horse Race – United Neightions Global Edition
Where: Devonport House, Greenwich, London
When: Sunday, from 11.30am (race starts at 1pm)
Cost: FREE
According to Time Out, this “fantastically silly, must-see event” is one of London’s most unusual Christmas charity events. Hundreds of people are set to pack the route through the streets of Greenwich, watching and cheering on the ridiculousness. Much better than the Grand National, as not one of the horses will get shot. YAY.

Where: Natural History Museum, London
When: Saturday
Cost: FREE
For kids on the autistic spectrum, crowded public spaces can be a pretty fraught experience. Luckily more and more public places are aware of their needs and the Natural History Museum is one of them. Thank fuck too, because kids love dinosaurs and the place is full of them. You will need to book because places are obvs limited, so best get on that quick.

Christmas Lino Printing Workshop (adults)
Where: Stirley Community Farm, Huddersfield
When: Saturday, 1.30pm-3.30pm
Cost: £15
Lino printing is the shit, trust me. I love it. Messy, mucky, ink-spattered good times. And lino printing in December is XMAS LINO PRINTING and with TEA and CAKE. Beginners welcome.

What: Reel Stories: Liverpool and the Silver Screen
Where: Museum of Liverpool
When: All weekend (ends September 2017)
Cost: FREE
This exhibition takes in film posters and memorabilia from films set or shot in and around Liverpool over the last 60 years. If you could let me know what they are, that’d be smashing because I can’t think of any apart from the tunnel bit of Fast and Furious 6, and there’s no way you’d get a whole exhibition out of that. OR COULD YOU?
