Seven Day Suit – Brighton Photo Biennial 2016

Tracksuits date back as far as the 1932 Olympics, the same year that Zippo lighters and Johnny Cash were born. What a year.
Seven emerging photographers present an exciting new collective exhibition which focuses on the humble (OR NOT SO HUMBLE) tracksuit and explores identity, subcultures, politics and the social and economic impact through the fashion of one garment.

BAM! SOCK! POW! The comic convention isn’t just about comics, it’s also about toys and games and getting a picture signed from that actor off that thing that Joss Whedon wrote but nobody watched, and also some cars. Nerd out or geek off or just be a regular person. Also some comics.

What: BP Portrait Award 2016
Where: The Usher Gallery, Lincoln
When: All weekend (ends 13 November)
Cost: Various
Portraits are the easiest fine art thing to get, in that they mostly sort of look like the person they’re a portrait of. Dead simple. Lincoln is the only place outside London to get to see this year’s award collection, I presume because somebody autocorrected London to Lincoln when they were filling out a vital form.

What:
Ghostly Tales at Pembroke Castle
Where: Pembroke Castle, Pembrokeshire
When: All weekend
Cost: £5
I DIDN’T FORGET ABOUT HALLOWEEN; I know you thought I did but I didn’t. Here’s a spooky weekend thing to do: if anything is better than scary stories then it’s scary stories in a place that is definitely haunted and that people definitely died in at various points throughout history. Go get your ghosts.

Hannah Dolan is getting better at making eye contact but only just. She likes biscuits and knitwear, even in summer, and quietly sings to herself if she forgets where she is.
