As the remaining episodes of this series of the Great British Bake Off take on new, wistful meaning, *sniff*, we’re continuing to live blog each and every hot bap, soggy bottom and erect biscuit. Sarah Ledger was Standard Issue’s star baker for Batter Week.
After a week which has seen GBBO devotees feeling like getting bladdered, the remaining nine contestants returned to the tent of piping dreams on Wednesday to get well and truly battered.
Yes, for the first time, Mary and Paul presided over a feast of Yorkshire pudding attempts and associated challenges during Batter Week.
Now, we knew it was going to be tough to put all the upheaval of the last few days to the back of our minds and enjoy all the things we love about Bake Off. You know, how we felt back in the heady days (last week) when the BB in the middle of GBBO had a double meaning.
This will be the last series we watch on the BBC. This will be the last GBBO series we watch with Mel and Sue at its heart. This may be the last series we watch if we’re really pissed off at how the Channel Four bake over looks… in which case we should do our best to bloody enjoy it while we can.
