The Four Weddings premiere aside, the biggest night in British film was upon us again on Sunday. Jen Offord and Sarah Ledger live blogged the backend off the BAFTAS and ate a shedload of popcorn in the process. Relive all the fun here.
So we’d had the Golden Globes, and then awards season’s deep devotion to things made to be watched on screen continued – on Valentine’s Day – with the BAFTAS.
Yes it was that time of year again when the British Academy of Film and Television Arts prepare to dole out a masquerade ball’s worth of shiny masks to those deemed to be residing at the top of the film industry tree.
A boatload of Brits were up for gongs. Idris Elba, Eddie Redmayne, Dame Maggie Smith and Kate Winslet were among the stars keeping their fingers crossed.
An influx of megastars – we’re talking the likes of Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Alicia Vikander and Christian Bale – from other shores also took their seats in London’s Royal Opera House to be entertained by Stephen Fry, who returned for the 11th time as host.
We were delighted to have Jen Offord and Sarah Ledger live blogging every gong. You can relive the red carpet magic and everything which happened afterwards here. We shouldn’t need to say this, but obviously, if you read on, there are going to be spoilers as to who won what.
